Where Am I Going?
Truthfully, this is THE question for all of us—to not only consider what the answer might be, but to put forth every effort to actually find the answer. We’ve already discussed briefly who we are, how we got here, and what we’re doing here. To answer this last and most potent of questions, we must be sure of the only way of destiny for us, which is found in the saving grace of God Himself through His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
There is only one of two possibilities that can be true: Either we were created by God or we evolved from some unexplained power in the phenomena that the world calls the “Big Bang.” There is so much scientific reality that counters the silly thought of some “big bang” that it turns out to be a “big dud.” In fact, Sir Fred Hoyle , to whom this expression is credited, denied and denounced it before his death in 2006.
The Big Bang theory is only for those who have a hatred for the God of the Universe, because they cannot really deny Him, for His signature is evident everywhere. These individuals persist, against all odds, with the lie of evolution by natural selection. If there’s no God, then there is no one to whom to be accountable; therefore, there can be no sin, and because of that, they need no Savior.
There are actually at least six types of evolution. However, we will concern ourselves with the Darwinian Natural Selection idea, which has NO scientific base or backing whatsoever. It is, in fact, a religion. Two main qualifications would certify that evolution, thus described, is a religion. One qualification is the fact that an individual must have “faith” in it, seeing that none of us was there at the beginning. The other qualification is that this type of thinking just affirms the devil’s first lie to Eve; namely, we are as gods. According to Dr. Carl Baugh, in his book Why Do Men Believe Evolution Against All Odds , “The fact is that creation offers a plausible scientific model which is in harmony with every known law of the sciences, many of which are found in the Scriptures. Evolution, on the other hand, is poised against impossible odds and its justification exists only in the minds of those unwilling and too proud to admit the truth, despite the fact that evolution suspends the laws of science (including cause and effect, conservation of mass and energy, cause and effect, DNA self-repair, lethal mutation damage), and even comes against provable observations with unbelievable suppositions.
“The bottom line is that evolution leaves us with a false understanding of who we are. It leaves us with a questionable identity and uncertain past, a meaningless present and a hopeless future. Whereas creation leaves us with the truth of who we are. We have an identity with great value, an origin with created design, an existence with a meaningful purpose and a future with unlimited hope.” (pp. 58, 59)
The words of Frank Tipler, who isn’t a Christian, sum up the science of it all: “The central claims of Judeo-Christian theology are in fact true, that these claims are straight forward deduction of the laws of physics as we now understand them. I have been forced into these conclusions by the inexorable logic of my own special branch of physics.” (The Physics of Immortality, New York: Doubleday, 1994, p. ix)
It is not our purpose to list all the proofs we could against evolution. They are simply too numerous, with no end in sight. We highly recommend Dave Hunt’s latest book, Cosmos, Creator and Human Destiny, which answers the absurd claims of the New Atheists like Richard Dawkins. You can contact The Berean Call at www.thebereancall.org to order the book.
It goes without saying that either one believes in Creation or one does not. We are all totally free to believe whatever we want. To believe in a fairy tale, which is what the idea of evolution actually is, seems most unwise. The least one can do is actually investigate how true are the claims of those who insist “against all odds” that we got here without a supreme intelligent, all-powerful being called God.
Also, to put in jeopardy our total beings on the word of some other sinful men is plain crazy. It is one thing to believe there is no afterlife; it is entirely different to be sure of such an idea. Just believing something has no power to make it come to pass, despite what Oprah and all the other brainless twits pump through the media.
We have to ask hard questions and expect good solid answers, not the – it could have been, we conceptualize, we postulate, we believe, we may well suppose nonsense of so many. Darwin’s book The Origin of Species fails miserably to explain any origin of anything; but it contains more than 100 such statements mentioned above that are in the subjunctive mood. This hardly qualifies as any sort of science. When one looks closely at school textbooks, this is the kind of rhetoric that’s in them. More and more bold statements that are not true are being published and are lying to our children. The point is that this is not science—in spite of their wanting so badly for it to wear that label.
So where am I going? Personally, we know exactly where we’re going because the Bible promises us that we can. I John 5:13 declares, “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”
The word translated “knows” is the Greek word genosko and has the meaning of know, that you know, that you know. It is also related to knowing one intimately. God said it, and that settles it: If anyone truly believes and continues to believe in the name of the Son of God, that one is truly saved.
A few verses later, in verse 19 of the same chapter, John the apostle tells us, “We know [genosko] that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.” So much for a Conspiracy “Theory.” If the whole world lies under the sway, then the whole world lies under the sway. One powerful, created, angelic being called Satan, meaning slanderer, or the Devil, meaning adversary or enemy, who rebelled and is the archenemy of God and His people has had his end already sealed in the Lake of Fire, when God fulfills all that has to yet happen according to His prophesies which He gave through His prophets of old.
Satan indeed is allowed to influence those in High places who reject God and His Son, thus the worldwide conspiracy.
Once an individual gets a clue that he or she is a sinner and calls “on the name of Jesus the Son of God” in true repentance, turning back toward the God who created him or her, that person is justified and on the road to full salvation if he or she stays in the faith no matter what.
In the end, only the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, can and does convict a contrite and repented heart to be saved. We sincerely pray that the readers, if not already justified from all of sin’s guilt, would strongly consider searching their own hearts and would come to the right conclusion.
We want to add that there is no such thing as a “sinner’s prayer.” There is only the willing heart toward the Lord Jesus Christ, who paid the penalty for sin which we could not, and when sincere, will be accompanied by just the right words for that particular individual. We desire that, if needed, that individual is you. When that’s done, you also will know that you know that you know that you’re on your way to heaven. We all spend eternity in one of two places. Won’t you make it with God in His heaven?
